Question 46System of Government

The executive branch has many parts. Name one.

Answers USCIS accepts

  • President (of the United States)
  • Cabinet
  • Federal departments and agencies

What does this answer mean?

The executive branch has many parts, and you only need to name one. USCIS accepts three: the President, the Cabinet, or federal departments and agencies.

The president leads the executive branch, which carries out and enforces federal laws. The vice president is part of it too. The Cabinet is the group of top advisers to the president, and it includes the vice president and the heads of the executive departments, such as the Secretary of State and the Attorney General.

Below the Cabinet are the federal departments and agencies that do the daily work of the government, from collecting taxes and delivering mail to protecting the environment and managing national parks. The Constitution mentions executive departments and says the president can ask their heads for written opinions.

Many members of the executive branch, including Cabinet members, are nominated by the president and approved by the Senate.

At the interview, the simplest answer is "the President."
