What does the President’s Cabinet do?
Answers USCIS accepts
- Advises the President (of the United States)
What does this answer mean?
The President's Cabinet advises the president. Its members are the president's top advisers on the work of the federal government.
The Cabinet includes the vice president, the heads of the executive departments, and other high-ranking officials the president gives Cabinet rank. Each department head leads a large part of the government, such as foreign affairs, the treasury, or homeland security, and keeps the president informed about it.
The word Cabinet doesn't appear in the Constitution. Its basis is a clause in Article II that lets the president ask the head of each executive department for a written opinion on matters related to their department. Over time, these advisers became known as the Cabinet.
The president nominates Cabinet members, and most must be approved by the Senate. Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury, was one of the early department heads.
At the interview, say "advises the President."
