Terms of Service

The rules for using Citizenshiply, including the practice interview, purchases, and refunds.

Last updated

The short version

  • Citizenshiply is an educational service. Nothing here is legal advice.
  • We are not affiliated with USCIS or any government agency. Only USCIS decides your case.
  • The practice interview is an AI simulation with a fictional officer. It can't predict your result.
  • Plans are one-time payments, never subscriptions, and come with a refund policy.
  • You must be at least 18 to create an account.
  • Please use the service fairly and respectfully.

Who we are and agreement to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Viatlas, LLC ("we" or "us"), which runs Citizenshiply. They cover the website at www.citizenshiply.com and the practice interview app at interview.citizenshiply.com (together, "the services").

By using the services, or by continuing when you create an account, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the services.

Accuracy of information

We take facts from official government sources, link to them, and show the date each page was last reviewed. We work to keep everything accurate and current, but we can't guarantee that every page is complete, correct, and up to date at every moment. If our content differs from an official source, the official source is correct.

Who can use the services

Anyone can read the website and use the free tools. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or buy a plan. By creating an account, you confirm that you are.

Accounts

  • One account per person. Don't share your account or your sign-in links and codes.
  • Use an email address that is yours and that you can check. Sign-in links and codes are sent there.
  • Keep your email and Google accounts secure. You're responsible for what happens in your account.
  • Tell us right away if you think someone else has used your account.

The practice interview and AI

  • It's a simulation. The practice interview is run by artificial intelligence (AI). The officer is fictional. It is not a USCIS officer or any real person.
  • It's not the real interview or an official test. A real interview can include questions, follow-ups, and decisions that a practice session doesn't.
  • AI can make mistakes. The officer may misunderstand you or say something inaccurate. Check important information against official sources.
  • Scores are practice feedback. They aren't a prediction or a guarantee of any result, and they aren't legal advice.
  • Don't share sensitive personal history. You don't need to tell the AI officer about real arrests, immigration problems, or other private details.
  • Use it fairly. You're responsible for what you say in a session. We may stop a session or limit an account that breaks the acceptable use rules.
  • Your audio and transcripts are handled as our Privacy Policy explains.

Citizenshiply is an independent educational service, not affiliated with USCIS or any government agency.

The practice interview isn't available yet. We show this section now because creating an account includes accepting it.

Purchases and interview credits

  • One-time payments. Plans are paid once. There are no subscriptions and no automatic renewals.
  • Interview credits. One credit is one full practice interview.
  • The unlimited plan gives unlimited practice for 60 days from purchase, with a fair-use limit of 2 interviews a day.
  • Prices are shown before you pay, in U.S. dollars. Sales tax or VAT may be added at checkout, depending on where you live.
  • Our reseller. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle's buyer terms also apply to your purchase.

Purchases open when the practice interview launches. Until then, this section describes how they will work.

Refunds

Our refund rule

Within 14 days of buying a plan, you can get a full refund if you've used no more than one interview from it, for any reason, including if your first interview wasn't useful.

This refund is available once per customer. If you've already received one, later purchases can be refunded for technical problems or where the law requires it.

Refunds are always for the whole purchase. After 14 days, or once you've used more than one interview from a plan, we refund for technical problems (below) or where the law requires it.

Technical problems

If a session fails before its credit is used, the credit comes back automatically. If something goes wrong after that, contact us and we'll give the credit back.

What we don't refund

We don't give refunds based on the result of a real USCIS interview. No practice service can guarantee an outcome, and we never do.

How to ask for a refund

To ask for a refund, use the link in your Paddle receipt email or go to paddle.net. You can also email [email protected] from the address on your account. We usually reply within 7 days, and always within 21 days. Once a refund is approved, Paddle returns the money to your original payment method, usually within 10 business days, depending on your bank.

What happens to your credits

When we refund a purchase, we remove its remaining credits, or its unlimited days, from your account. Credits that were already used can't be taken back; your account history notes them.

Chargebacks

Please contact us before asking your bank for a chargeback. We can usually fix the problem faster.

Your rights as a consumer

Nothing in this section limits rights that consumer protection law gives you where you live.

Acceptable use

When you use Citizenshiply, please don't:

  • use the services for anything illegal, or to harass or harm anyone;
  • try to break, overload, or get around our security, or get into other people's accounts;
  • copy the site with automated tools in a way that slows it down or harms it;
  • share, sell, or transfer your account;
  • create more than one account to get more than one free mini interview;
  • pretend to be someone else, or present Citizenshiply as a government service.

We may limit or suspend access for anyone who breaks these rules.

Our content

The guides, tools, design, and other content on Citizenshiply belong to us, except official government materials, which remain public. You're welcome to share links to any page and to print checklists and study materials for your own personal use. Please don't copy our content to republish or sell it.

Your content

What you give us, such as your practice answers once the practice interview is available, stays yours. You give us a limited permission to store and process it only as needed to provide the service to you, for example to make your report.

We don't use your answers to train AI models.

Third-party services and links

Citizenshiply links to other websites, including official government sites, and uses outside services such as Google sign-in. We don't control other websites and aren't responsible for their content or practices. Their own terms and policies apply.

Changes and availability

We may change, add, pause, or remove features, including free tools, at any time. We work to keep the services running, but we can't promise they'll always be available or free of errors.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The services are provided "as is" and "as available." To the extent the law allows, we don't make promises about the services beyond the ones in these terms, including that they'll meet your needs or lead to any result in your case.

To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on our content or tools. If we are responsible for a loss, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be limited by agreement.

Ending your account

You can stop using the services at any time, and you can delete your account from your account page. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

Some parts of these terms, such as the limits on liability, still apply after an account ends.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware. Disputes will be handled by the courts there, unless the law where you live gives you the right to go to court elsewhere.

Before taking legal action, please contact us. Most problems can be solved quickly.

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also email account holders before they take effect. If you keep using the services after that, the new terms apply. Past changes are listed in the version history.

Language

These terms are available in English and Spanish. If the two versions differ, the English version controls.
